Book Description

This thoroughly revised edition of the authoritative reference Fascial Release for Structural Balance expands its extensive library of techniques and includes all of the most current research on the role and treatment of fascia and myofascia in the body. James Earls and Thomas Myers offer the reader more sophisticated testing to explore the relationship between anatomical structure and function, making this updated edition an essential guide for every practitioner.

Fascia, the biological fabric surrounding muscles, bones, and organs, plays a crucial role in both mobility and stability. By learning to intelligently work with the variety of fascial tissues, a bodyworker or therapist can help with many chronic conditions, providing immediate and lasting pain relief, as well as reducing the strains that contribute to movement limitations. The authors argue that approaching fascial restriction requires “a different eye, a different touch, and tissue-specific techniques.”

This book offers a detailed introduction to structural anatomy and fascial release therapy, including “bodyreading”—global postural analysis—coupled with complete technique descriptions. The book features 150 color photographs that clearly demonstrate each technique. Earls and Myers, both respected bodywork professionals, provide any bodywork practitioner using manual therapy—including physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, myofascial trigger point therapists, and massage therapists—the information they need to deliver effective treatments and create systemic change in clients’ posture and function.

James Earls is the director of Ultimate Massage and Kinesis U.K. He practices Structural Integration and massage therapy in London. Author of Born to Walk (North Atlantic Books, 2014), James has developed a unique blending of functional, comparative and myofascial anatomy.  Thomas Myers has practiced integrative structural therapy for more than 40 years in a variety of clinical and cultural settings. The author of the acclaimed Anatomy Trains (Elsevier, 2014), Tom directs Kinesis, which offers continuing education and certification trainings worldwide.

Book Description

Anyone who wants to be active, mobile, and pain-free in everyday life should be aware of the importance of their connective tissue!

A greater knowledge and understanding of connective tissue has been gained in recent years in the fields of physiotherapy, sports science, and medicine. Muscular connective tissue, known as fascia, plays a large role in health, well-being, and mobility—it transmits the power of the muscles, communicates with the nervous system, and serves as a sense organ. Fascia ensures the protection of internal organs and forms the basis for a naturally beautiful body shape.

Connective tissue can perform in a similar way as your existing muscles. Fascia responds to stress and nerve signals, and if it becomes tangled or stuck together, pain and movement problems can occur. The fascia should therefore be specifically targeted by exercise, and 10 minutes twice a week is all you need.

In this book the leading German fascia researcher and Rolfing practitioner Robert Schleip describes how new findings in practical exercise programs for the fascia can be translated to everyday use.

About the Author

Robert Schleip directs the Fascia Research Project at Ulm University, Germany, and is Research Director of the European Rolfing Association.

Press Release: NAOBAY Equilibria Antioxidant Range for Balancing Skin this Summer

Press Release: NAOBAY Equilibria Antioxidant Range for Balancing Skin this Summer

Skincare in the summer can be demanding, particularly for city dwellers. The varying weather, pollution, UV exposure, temperature fluctuations from inside to outdoors and the underground, can cause an imbalance in our skin. NAOBAY Equilibria Antioxidant range can help balance skin from the outside in. There is a three step regime:

Step 1: Cleansing. It is important to thoroughly wash your face and remove all traces of oil, dirt, make-up, dead skin cells, sunscreen and everyday pollutants from the environment that settle throughout the day on the facial skin. Cleansing also helps to prevent clogged pores, which in turn reduces the likelihood of developing breakouts. Finally, cleansing your face helps to prepare the skin to absorb the products that you plan to apply, as a toner or a moisturiser.

Equilibria Gel to Milk Cleanser: a translucent gel cleanser that changes into a light cleansing milk upon contact with water, this cleanser softens and cleanses the skin while organic oils, including olive and sweet almond, work to moisturise and encourage natural cell turnover. Apricot oil boasts soothing properties and great regenerating power for dull and tired skin types, or after a period of stress.

Beauty Tip: use Equilibria Gel to Milk Cleanser with a dampened cotton pad to remove eye makeup.

Step 2: Toning. Toner removes residues, such as chlorine and minerals of tap water when used after cleansing and also balances the pH and removes residual oils. The toner can give your skin a healthy dose of what it needs to look younger, fresher, and smoother throughout the day.

Equilibria Face Mist Toner: featuring organic aloe vera, calendula and chamomile, this toner can provide truly amazing benefits for your skin, balancing, refreshing and softening the skin. This toner also cleanses and moisturises, and is suitable for face, eye contour and neck.

Beauty Tip: Equilibria Face Mist Toner can be applied with a cotton pad using small circular motions to remove extra dirt, and thanks to the spray can be used on the spot as a skin refresher throughout the day.

Step 3: Moisturising. Hydration is what enables skin to function at peak performance, with huge anti-ageing advantages. Studies have shown that people who use moisturizer develop wrinkles at a fraction of the rate of those with dry skin. Your skin needs to be clean in order to be replenished with moisture. Otherwise, it begin to overproduce oil and clog your pores, which in turn will lead to break-outs.

Equilibria Balancing Cream: specially designed to balance facial skin, with cinnamon, organic calendula and aloe vera extracts to improve and repair skin, soften and energise, smooth texture and fight ageing. Organic evening primrose oil rich in essential fatty acids promotes skin regeneration and stimulates micro circulation.

Saach Organics: Take the Clean Hair Challenge This 2017

Saach Organics: Take the Clean Hair Challenge This 2017

We’re not talking about your hair being CLEAN, more the products that you use to get there! The Clean Beauty movement is getting bigger and bigger, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2017. Consumers are becoming more savvy to greenwashing, starting to question just what’s in those expensive beauty products they are putting on their bodies and seeking out really natural alternatives.

This is where Saach Organics comes in. Hair care with its roots firmly in Ayurveda. Products that are truly natural, using the finest quality oils and herbal extracts to create safe and clean beauty products. Even their hair dyes are 100% natural, something other brands on the market allude to but even these still have questionable chemicals in them!

Here’s what your routine would look like……

Step 1 To be completed at least once a week, going up to three times a week. Apply Saach Organics Gooseberry Herbal Hair Oil (£12.90 100ml) to scalp and lengths of hair, massaging thoroughly. Leave on overnight for optimum effectiveness. This blend is a stimulating oil formulated to boost blood circulation and delivery of nutrients to the scalp via opening up blocked capillaries. With use, hair is revitalised, and lost colour and strength replenished.

Ingredients: Sunflower Oil processed with Indian Gooseberry, Acacia Concinna, Cypriol, Madder, Basil, Red Sandalwood, Hibiscus, Henna, Rose, Musk Root, Bacopa and Eclipta alba, Cotton Seed Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Almond Oil

Free from: Parabens, Formaldehyde, Sulphates and Petrochemicals

Step 2 Choose the Saach Organics Shampoo (£10.95 200ml) that is right for you. The team’s personal favourite here is the Basil, Hibiscus & Peppermint Shampoo, designed to strengthen hair, but you also have the following to choose from

Dandruff Control Shampoo – A breakthrough anti-dandruff formula that strengthens hair roots, and fights dandruff with Tea Tree Oil and Rosemary Oil and relieves irritated scalps with Lemon Extract.

Colour Protect Shampoo – Protect coloured hair with this Ayurvedic combination of Henna and Orange Oil to restore and revitalise both hair and colour.

Damage Repair Shampoo – This Ayurvedic formula helps restructure damaged hair, providing needed moisture and nourishment. Safe for radically coloured and permed hair.

To use shake the bottle before use then squeeze a small amount out. Apply on hair and scalp to work up a lather. Rinse well with warm water. The formula is gentle enough to use every day.

Step 3 Finish with Saach Organics Hair Nourishment Conditioner (£9.95 200ml). Help your hair achieve its top condition with this unique formula enriched with the natural goodness of Hibiscus and Henna, essential oils of Primrose and Almond to improve hair health from root to tip.

Beauty Tip – When applying the conditioner, focus on the ends of your hair, apply to the roots very sparingly – due to the nature of our hair and thanks to the oil treatment you don’t really need to use conditioner here. Leave on for two minutes then rinse thoroughly with warm water, combing through your hair from root to tip. Finish with a blast of cool water to seal cuticle and invigorate.
